Ending HIV: Free HIV forum for anyone who works with people from CALD backgrounds

When: 21 May 2015, 09:15 am to 21 May 2015, 12:30 pm

Where: Rockdale

Free forum for health and community workers providing services to people from CALD backgrounds in South Eastern Sydney.

In South Eastern Sydney in 2013 more than 50% of new HIV infections were in people born overseas.

South Eastern Sydney has a large population of people who were born overseas. Thirty-seven percent (37%) of the total resident population were born overseas including 27% people born in a non-English speaking country.

Improvements in HIV treatments are helping people with HIV live longer and more active lives however CALD communities are more likely to receive a late HIV diagnosis and have poorer knowledge of HIV. This results in worse health outcomes and increased risk of passing HIV onto others.

Come along to find out how you can support your communities so they are not left behind. This forum will cover the following topics:
• Update on HIV and AIDS
• Impact of HIV on CALD communities
• A personal experience of living with HIV
• Services, resources
