• $30.58ph casual rate

• 20hpw, 12 month Contract Position

South West Sydney Legal Centre is a not-for-profit organisation, delivering innovative, multi-disciplinary and diverse strategies aimed towards facilitating access to justice in our local communities. We are seeking a hearing support worker to join our team.

The Hearing Support Worker will be part of a research project, which aims to determine whether providing support/advocacy at court for apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) hearings for female victims impacts upon hearing outcomes.

The successful applicant will work closely with police, prosecutors and local court personnel to advocate for women and to ensure the best and most appropriate outcomes are achieved.

Applicant should have a commitment to empowering women and children affected by domestic and family violence, and have demonstrate experience working in local courts and an understanding of the ADVO process.

This position is open to female applicants only. SWSLC considers being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s. 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

The successful applicants must be willing to undertake Working with Children Criminal Record checks. Applicants should hold a current NSW driver’s licence, and proficiency in a language other than English is desirable.
